NB. Rubber Consultant
NB Rubber Consultant can help you solve the most common defects in molding operations. We can help you find the route cause to prevent costly reoccurrence.

Listed below are few of the major defects:

Scorch (Appears as a wavy wrinkle surface on the rubber part)

Delamination (appears radially around the part and appears like a cut but not as straight.)

Under Cure (sticky and poorly formed part and do not hold their shape)

Thick Flash (flash over thickness requirements which may cause a trim problem)

Blisters (sub-surface lumps)

Poc-Marks (round shaped shallow dimples on the rubber surface)

Chipped Lips (Appears as missing rubber at the sealing area)

Trapped Air (Appears as a spongy area and under cured)

Poor Bond (Rubber can easily be removed from the metal.)

Flow Marks (appears as a channel in the rubber surface.)

Non Fills (Rubber missing from part).

Cuts / Broken (appear to open up more around the part as you stress it)

Backrined (Appears at parting line flash)

Some of the defects listed above, may cause additional and costly problems, such as; mold fouling, products poor visual appearance and may cause an early field failure.

- Mold fouling can affect your mold cavities (visually and dimensionally).
Depending on the nature of the mold fouling and its long-term effect, such as; the presence of abrasive chemicals, use of incompatible mold release and other chemicals present in the compound.

- Mold fouling will affect your productivity, efficiency and equipment utilization.
We can help you eliminate these problems and the high cost associated with it.

NB. Rubber Consultant can also provide you with adhesives recommendations, suitable for your rubber-to- metal, rubber-to-rubber and calendered fabric to rubber or to metal application for optimum bond strength requirements.

- Adhesives Failure
Metal failure / Primer-to-cement failure / Rubber-to-cement failure

- Bond failure can be caused by many factors:
Metal condition, Compound, Adhesives type and concentration, Polymer(s), Fillers, Plasticizers, Cures, Trapped air, Contamination and many other factors.

We can help and assist you by, working closely with your preferred adhesives suppliers to control inventory, new suppliers and /or by compound modifications and process.
